Cheap Flights to Lanzarote

Lanzarote, one of the most eastern of the Canary Islands, is on the same latitude as the Sahara Desert and experiences a similar climate, albeit surrounded by water. This translates to warm temperatures and low rainfall all year around making it a wonderful place for a holiday at any time, especially if you love outdoor activities.

You will find many travel sites offering both cheap hotels in Lanzarote and cheap flights to Lanzarote.

There seems to be an unlimited amount of things to do on Lanzarote, a volcanic island — 40 miles long and 13 miles wide — set in the Atlantic Ocean.

Anyone holidaying there for the first time should visit the Timanfaya National Park, a huge lava flow that covers more than 20 square miles. It dates back to around 1730 when there were several violent eruptions from the volcano which gave birth to Lanzarote in the dim and distant past.

The other “must see” item is the House of Cesar Manrique. This house is very interesting from many different views. The historic perspective is rich, the architecture is very dated, and there is an artistic point of view about this house. The house is located in Lanzarote’s central region near the city of Recife. Here you’ll discover restaurants, shops, hotels and other tourist attractions.

Lanzarote weather is brilliant. There are over 300 days of pure sunshine a year which is why the country is so popular. August and September show the best weather, with temperatures at around 28C and water temperatures are around 22C. From June until August, you will find around 11 hours of sunshine a day with November only showing 6. The coldest months in Lanzarote are January and February, but still the temperature rarely falls below 21°C. There is little rain in Lanzarote as it is relatively flat, but when rain does occur, it is usually from November until March. During the summer, temperatures remain at a high of 20°C in the evening and in the winter that drop to around 12C. There is a breeze that sweeps through the island and this effectively helps to maintain the temperatures and keep you comfortable in the heat.

To the north is Jameos del Aqua, a formation of lava caves and tubes. The Mirador del Rio will show visitors an amazing view from the cliff that it sits on top of. Close by is another lava cave formation called La Cueva de los Verdes or Cave of the Greens.

Here again, visitors can walk through the lava tubes and see spectacular lava formations and designs. There is also a spot called Jardin de Cactus that is not far from Cave of the Greens. At Jardin de Cactus visitors can see a very wide variety of cactus ans succulents and other unique island vegetation.
